Tata aims to rein entry level MUV segment with Sumo Gold

One of India's biggest and oldest automobile giants – Tata Motors have set a target of selling about 5000 Tata Sumo Gold units every month in India for the coming couple of months. The company plans to become the leaders in this entry level MUV (multi utility vehicle) segment. Tata Motors have a lot of hopes on Tata Sumo Gold and are confident that this MUV would definitely increase their sales. Tata Sumo gold price in India is starting at around – Rs. 5.47 lakh (ex showroom Chennai) for their base variant and the high end variant would cost about – Rs. 6.89 lakh (ex showroom Chennai).

There are a few changes in this MUV such as the exteriors are smooth and sleek and the front facia is looking elegant, which is clearly visible in the Tata Sumo Gold pictures. This vehicle is know for its spacious interiors and strong body. This new Tata Sumo Gold comes with a refined CR4 diesel engine. The company also claims that the mileage has become a little better and this vehicle would give about 14.3 Km per liter. Apart from this, the weight of Tata Sumo Gold has been reduced a little for making it more responsive and smoother to handle.

As of now, about 3000 vehicles of this new MUV are being sold every month. Comparatively, 4 months ago they were only able to sell about 1100 vehicles a month. Therefore, the company has decided to increase the sales to about 5000 vehicles per month in the coming 2 months and are putting in a lot of efforts to achieve this goal. Tata Sumo Gold is made at their Pune manufacturing unit and this plant is making about 3000 vehicles in a month. Depending on the response from the market, the production of these vehicles will be gradually increased in this facility.
