Tata Motors speedy ramp-up production of Nano at Sanand plant

Tata Motors has recnetly announced that with its 250,000-unit/year Sanand plant becoming operational ahead of schedule, the company will speedily ramp up production of the Tata Nano. Accordingly, the company has begun intimating retainee-customers that their cars are coming up for delivery. This is the final step, before the company opens up sales of the Tata Nano. Retainee-customers are those who had retained their booking with the company though not selected among the first allottee-customers from out of the booking process of 2009. Despite a steep increase in input prices, their Tata Nanos are being priced only three to four percent higher, depending on the model, than the price announced at launch.



The terms and conditions of booking had provided that the applicable price of the car for a retainee-customer would be notified at the time of delivery. Also, as announced at the booking, they have received interest on their deposit. The allottee-customers, still awaiting delivery, will get their cars at the same price as announced at launch on March 23, 2009. Tata Motors would like to reward the loyalty of the allottee-customers for bearing with the company through a prolonged period of delivery, given the capacity constraints till the Sanand plant became operational.



As a gesture of goodwill and gratitude, the company has announced for them a choice among a one-year free annual maintenance contract (AMC), or free accessories worth Rs.4000/- or an extended warranty. The Tata Nano has already received an overwhelming response. With the ramp-up at the Sanand plant, customers desirous of the car will soon be able to freely purchase the Tata Nano.

Jaguar Academy of Sport announces its inaugural Bursary Awards

At a Ceremony today in London the Jaguar Academy of Sport presented 35 young athletes, representing the next generation of British sporting talent, with the Jaguar Academy of Sport Bursary Awards. The Bursary Fund is at the core of the Jaguar Academy of Sport, which aims to recognise, celebrate and inspire the best of British sporting talent and success. process conducted by SportsAid, which administers the Bursary Fund on behalf of the Jaguar Academy, with the final decision being made by the Patrons and Ambassadors of the Jaguar Academy of Sport, some of the nation’s most successful sportsmen and women. The 35 successful young athletes are aged between 14 and 24 and have been drawn from all over the country, representing 19 English counties, Scotland and Wales. They represent a total of 30 sporting disciplines all of which are Olympic and Paralympic sports. The Jaguar Academy of Sport has been established with the intention of not just providing funding to the next generation, but also nurturing and inspiring them. As such the best performing of the 35 young athletes will be topped-up with extra funding and will be presented with a prestigious Award by the Patrons at the Jaguar Academy of Sports Awards in November. Athletes to be mentored by the Patrons and Ambassadors.



The young athletes were presented with their cheques and certificates by John Johnson, Operations Director Jaguar UK, Tim Lawler Chief Executive of SportsAid and, representing the Patrons of the Jaguar Academy of Sport, by Gareth Edwards (CBE). The Ambassadors of the Jaguar Academy of Sport were represented by Colin Jackson (CBE), Jamie Baulch, David Roberts (CBE), Tasha Danvers and Martin Brundle. The Jaguar Academy of Sport was launched in March 2010 and aims to recognize, celebrate and inspire the very best of British sporting talent and success. It will fulfill this aim through a Bursary Fund, which supports new British sporting talent, a prestigious annual Awards Ceremony, a unique club of the best of British sport which will be used to inspire the next generation and a vibrant website celebrating British sporting talent and achievement.

Tata Motors increased price of its Nano in India

World's cheapest small car, Tata Nano becomes a costlier than the existing car model in India during the hikes input costs, the price of this car is increasing by Rs. 6000. Tata Motors, one of the largest auto market leader in India, had launched world's cheapest car in the last year in the Indian auto market. After launching Tata Nano, the company has booking more than 1 lakh Nano's car. The company also said that it will retain the rate which has been promised to the first customers of this small car. Nano’s delivery started in July last year and since then Tata Motors has sold over around 45,000 Nanos.



The company has also got plans for delivering the cars to their remaining customers. These are the customers who got selected through a lottery last year. The company has started intimating the rise in price to its customers. In a statement TM said that despite a sudden increase in input prices, Nano’s price has been increased by only 3-4 percent. The company has also promised to reward customers for bearing any delay in delivery because of the capacity constraints.



On the other hand, earlier Hyundai Motor India and Maruti Suzuki has increased prices for around four times in a year keeping the increased input costs in mind. Besides, Maruti Suzuki is preparing an another small car which can expect to compete with world's small car in India. The new small car will be known as Maruti Cervo and is expected to be available around 1.5 lakh.

Tata Motors global sales went up by 46 percent in June

The Tata Motors Group global sales, comprising of Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles along with distributed brands in India, and Jaguar and Land Rover, were 91,608 nos. in June 2010, a growth of 46% over June 2009. Cumulative sales for the fiscal (April 2010 – June 2010) are 249,322, higher by 50% compared to the corresponding period in 2009-10. Sales of all commercial vehicles were 39,975 nos. in June 2010, a growth of 38%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 111,298 nos., a growth of 41%. Sales of all passenger vehicles were 51,633 nos. in June 2010, a growth of 53%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 138,024 nos., a growth of 58%.



Tata passenger vehicle sales, including those distributed, were 31,444 nos. for the month, a growth of 58%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 80,871 nos., a growth of 57%. Jaguar Land Rover global sales in June 2010 were 20,189 vehicles, higher by 47%. Jaguar sales for the month were 6,776, higher by 59%, while Land Rover sales were 13,413, higher by 41%. Cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the fiscal are 57,153 nos., higher by 59%. Cumulative sales of Jaguar are 15,455 nos., higher by 33%, while cumulative sales of Land Rover are 41,698 nos., higher by 71%.



Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company, with consolidated revenues of Rs. 92,519 crores ($ 20 billion) in 2009-10. Through subsidiaries and associate companies, Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand and Spain. Among them is Jaguar Land Rover, the business comprising the two iconic British brands. It also has an industrial joint venture with Fiat in India. With over 5.9 million Tata vehicles plying in India, Tata Motors is the country’s market leader in commercial vehicles and among the top three in passenger vehicles. Tata Motors, JLR to Jointly build luxury car

India's one of the leading auto manufacturer, Tata Motors is planning to launch its new luxury car jointly develop with its United Kingdom subsidiary, Jaguar Land Rover over two years later. Presently, the company is working for the premium car that they give DR0 code named and will soon enter production with a DR5 codename. The new car is a saloon car that Tata Motors build a assured model, along with Jaguar Land Rover. It will be available with a tag of U.S. $ 40,000 to 60,000. The company said in a statement that Initiatives have been taken on joint development programmes for engines, vehicles and platforms, which would leverage skills of both Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), resulting in a synergy in operations of the company and its subsidiary.



Mr Ravi Kant, non-executive vice-chairman of the company, has been credited for initiating synergies between Tata Motors and JLR. In recognition of his work company's board has approved an annual remuneration of about Rs 53 lakh for him. According to the company, Mr Kant has been performing a key function in overseeing and co-ordinating the operations of JLR, besides reviewing the existing manufacturing processes, which would result in substantial cost reduction and rationalization of platforms.



Tata Motors has already announced that it would invest Rs 10,000 crore in the coming years on product development and facility modernization. As per some website reports that the company is also ready to launch its new crossover, Tata Aria soon in India which will be available price tag of around Rs. 12 lakh. On the other hand, Skoda Yeti, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Maruti Kizashi and Hyundai Santa Fe are the upcoming cars in the Indian market.

Tata Motors sales figure in June 2010

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in June 2010 were 67,730 vehicles, a growth of 49 percent over 45,440 vehicles sold in June 2009. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial andpassenger vehicles for June 2010 were 62,602 nos., a 45 percent growth over 43,284 nos. sold in June last year. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 181,708 nos., a growth of 48 percent over 123,114 nos. sold last year. The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in June 2010 in the domestic market were 34,791 nos., a 33 percent growth compared to 26,245 vehicles sold in June last year. LCV sales were 19,652 nos., a growth of 21 percent over June last year. M and HCV sales stood at 15,139 nos., a growth of 52 percent over June last year. Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 97,229 nos., a growth of 35 percent over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are 55,073 nos., a growth of 21 percent over last year, while M and HCV sales stood at 42,156 nos., a growth of 58 percent over last year.



The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution offtake of 29,948 nos. (27,811 Tata 2,137 Fiat) in the domestic market in June 2010, a 53 percent increase compared to 19,513 nos. (17,039 Tata 2,474 Fiat) in June last year. Sales of Tatapassenger vehicles were 27,811 nos., a growth of 63 percent over June 2009. Sales of the Tata Nano were 7,704 nos. The Indica range sales were 9,003 nos., lower by 12 percent over June last year. The Indigo range recorded sales of 7,502 nos., a growth of 113 percent over June last year. The Sumo/Safari range accounted for sales of 3,602 nos., higher by 9 percent over June last year.



Jaguar Land Rover sales continued their upward trend since launch in June 2009. Cumulative sales and distribution offtake of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 78,336 nos. (72,236 Tata 6,100 Fiat), against 50,691nos. (45,837 Tata 4,854 Fiat) last year, a growth of 55 percent. Cumulative sales of the Nano are 14,779 nos. Cumulative sales of the Indica range are 26,507 nos., lower by 8 percent. Cumulative sales of the Indigo family are 21,303 nos., higher by 139 percent. Cumulative sales of the Sumo/Safari range are 9,647 nos., higher by 20 percent. The company's sales from exports at 5,128 vehicles in June 2010 registered a growth of 138 percent compared to 2,156 vehicles in June last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 12,243 nos. are higher by 134 percent over 5,221 nos. in the same period last year.
